Commercial and Residential Chip Sealing in Austin
Providing Professional Paving Chip Seal Services in Austin and Surrounding Areas
If you want to prolong the longevity of your roadway, parking lot, driveway, and other paved surfaces, chip sealing provides a cost-effective option. The process creates a durable surface that needs almost zero maintenance.
Chip seal helps protect asphalt surfaces from deterioration caused by oxidation and aging. In addition, by providing a barrier against moisture it offers good skid resistance and reduces the risk of black ice.
What is Chip Seal?
Chip seal is a paving treatment that combines and compresses a layer of asphalt with a layer of aggregate. It provides lots of curb appeal and a nice, clean natural look, and it doesn’t absorb heat. Chip seal isn’t new; it’s a tried and tested method. Plus, it’s an economical method to install new roads and help to maintain current roads and other paved surfaces. Chip seal is a high-quality, practical paving option that looks great. It is versatile and can be used on almost any residential or commercial paved surface, including but not limited to:
- Driveways
- Parking Lots
- Private Streets
- Short Roadways
- Trails
- Ranch roads
- Alleys
- Speed bumps
- Handicap ramps
- Airport runways
Why Choose Chip Sealing for Your Paved Surfaces?
- Chips maintain roads, driveways, and other paved surfaces at a much lower cost.
- There is almost no maintenance needed.
- Chip sealing eliminates the need to seal cracks.
- Provides good skid resistance and enhances safety.
- Provide an effective moisture barrier for underlying pavements.
- Chip seal prevents asphalt deterioration.
- In hot weather, chip seal will reseal by flowing back together.
How is Chip Seal Different?
The primary difference is in the construction method. Chip sealing incorporates the same materials, but the method of putting them all together is different. A thin film of hot asphalt is spread on the surface first. Then, small aggregates, or the “chips,” are spread over the asphalt. The chips are compressed or compacted to ensure maximum adherence to the asphalt. Finally, any excess stone is cleared from the surface. You will be able to see the rock pieces in the final product. The rougher surface provides more traction.
